In truth the New Year should be tied to the Winter Solstice since the solstice is the point in time that our planets solar dance turns from the deepening sleep of winter towards the awakening and rebirth of Spring as the minutes of daylight stop decreasing and begin to increase.

Federal Election – Harper and the Conservatives Part IV of V

As noted earlier – in thinking about the state of Canada’s finances and the economy, it became clear that as difficult as I found it to comprehend it was possible, even likely, that Stephen Harper and the Conservatives in fact see themselves as doing a good job – telling themselves that Canada’s finances and economy would be in much worse shape under any other party’s management.

Unfortunately Stephen Harper is not without cause for the disdain* he shows for Canadian voters every time he stands there and claims that he and the Conservatives are good managers of Canada’s finances and economy.

1 Disdain assumes that Stephen Harper and the Conservatives are aware of their extremely poor performance as managers of Canada’s finances and economy. I have to acknowledge a personal bias that caused me to assume that anyone who brought about the state Canada’s debt, finances and economy are in, would HAVE TO BE aware of the bad job they had done. In writing [thus thinking] about Stephen Harper and the Conservatives it has become clear that there is the distinct possibility that they are totally unaware of the reality of their performance and in fact see themselves as doing a good job.

You know how horribly the Conservatives have mismanaged Canada’s finances and the economy when they start claiming they reduced Canada’s deficit by $37 billion when the federal debt was $482 billion when the Conservatives became the government of Canada and has risen to $612 billion during the period Harper and the Conservatives have been the government of Canada.
