Having been stripped to the bone, I have been left with no cushion and so cannot afford to fail even once.<\/p>\n<p>Which makes the car a most effective tool to torment and drive me into retreating from the world.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jameswbreckenridge.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/P_NotAfterYou.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4145 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jameswbreckenridge.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/P_NotAfterYou.jpg\" alt=\"P_NotAfterYou\" width=\"261\" height=\"130\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I am not being paranoid since, given that the Universe really is out to get me.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jameswbreckenridge.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/P_NotAfterYouButton.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-4146\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jameswbreckenridge.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/P_NotAfterYouButton-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"P_NotAfterYouButton\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You have doubts? Consider Friday\u2019s appointment with the good folks at Curtis Tire for an alignment and two new tires [replacements for a flat tire and a badly worn front tire= tire that was placed on the front wheels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to show you something\u2019\u201dare not words one wants to hear when you are sitting there waiting for work on your car to be finished.<\/p>\n<p>When we arrived in the bay my car was sporting two new tires on the front wheels but was still on the hoist.<\/p>\n<p>The bad news was that both front coil springs were broken. On the bright side [at least in terms of my car these days] the springs had broken in a place and a manner that one could still drive the car.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, since we are speaking of me and my car, if I should chance to hit the wrong bump the coil springs could lift, shift and put holes in both <strong><em>brand new <\/em><\/strong>front tires.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026\u2026.tick\u2026\u2026.tick\u2026\u2026.tick\u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>At some point in the immediate future, as my finances allow, I need to make my way to Pick-a-Part, pull both the coil springs and struts off the front of a 2001 Ford Focus and have Curtis Tire instal them. As an aside I want to say Curtis Tire\u2019s understanding of my tight finances and their advice to go to the wrecker&#8217;s for struts and springs off was much appreciated. Not in terms of embarrassment of being poor but in terms of a practical [and achievable] solution.<\/p>\n<p>Until I manage to acquire the struts and springs and have them installed I need to avoid an \u2018unfortunate bump\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Which, considering I live Abbotsford and the dilapidated condition of Abbotsford\u2019s streets &#8211; so often subject to city council\u2019s disregard &#8211; brought about the damage in the first place, leaves me facing the challenge of navigating the obstacles course known as \u00a0roads in Abbotsford.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jameswbreckenridge.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/CarSwallowingHole2.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4147\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jameswbreckenridge.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/CarSwallowingHole2-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"CarSwallowingHole2\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jameswbreckenridge.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/CarSwallowingHole2-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.jameswbreckenridge.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/CarSwallowingHole2.jpg 392w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fortunately the skill of the people at Curtis Tire and the vast \u00a0improvement in maneuverability they brought about gives me a chance, however slim, of surviving Abbotsford\u2019s streets long enough to obtain and instal the coil springs and struts.<\/p>\n<p>Of course installing the springs and struts does not end the need for care in order to avoid being ambushed by another of Abbotsford\u2019s latent tire and suspension-eating traps for the unwary..<\/p>\n<p>While I cannot foresee the outcome of my quest to overcome the Universe\u2019s latest assault on my sanity I do foresee a lot of prayer in the immediate future.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jameswbreckenridge.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/BlessMyCar.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4148\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jameswbreckenridge.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/BlessMyCar-300x225.png\" alt=\"BlessMyCar\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jameswbreckenridge.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/BlessMyCar-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/www.jameswbreckenridge.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/BlessMyCar.png 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s rather self-evident that the Universe permits me to have a car only in order to ensure it has a handy tool with which to torment and drive me crazy.
